A clogged diesel particulate filter (DPF) doesn’t just throw a warning light—it can throw off your whole operation. At Axle Spindle, we bring expert DPF diagnostics, cleaning, and replacement right to your yard, jobsite, or fleet yard anywhere in the GTA and beyond. Whether it’s poor fuel economy, sluggish power, or a failed regen cycle, we’ll get your emissions system back to spec—fast, mobile, and done right.
The DPF traps harmful soot from your exhaust to keep emissions low and your engine compliant. But when soot builds up faster than regeneration can burn it off, performance suffers—fuel economy drops, power lags, and faults stack up. Whether you’re running a fleet or a single heavy-duty unit, regular DPF cleaning keeps airflow steady, regen cycles working, and replacement costs off your back.

DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Services
››› DPF Diagnostics
We use advanced tools to check pressure, regeneration cycles and soot load. This will tell us if you need cleaning, repair or full DPF replacement.
››› Filter Removal & Inspection
The DPF is removed from the exhaust system and visually inspected for cracks, blockages or heat damage. This step ensures no structural damage before cleaning.
››› Professional Cleaning
We do a full DPF service, air blasting and solvent treating to remove carbon and ash from deep inside the filter walls.
››› Baking & Flow Testing
The filter is baked at high heat to burn off stubborn material, then flow tested to ensure it meets manufacturer specs before reinstallation.
››› Reinstallation & Reset
After cleaning the DPF is reinstalled and the onboard computer is reset. This clears any DPF fault codes and restores the system to normal operation.
Signs You Need DPF Service
Loss of Power or Slow Acceleration
Clogged DPF restricts exhaust flow and performance.
Poor Fuel Economy
Your truck will burn more fuel to compensate for backpressure in the exhaust system.
Check Engine or DPF Light
This means the filter is full of soot or ash.
Frequent Regen Cycles
If regen is happening too often, your filter is probably near full and needs to be cleaned.
Exhaust Smoke
If black smoke is pouring out of the stack, your DPF for trucks and trailers is not functioning properly.
Preventive Maintenance Tips
Keep an eye on backpressure.
If your gauge creeps above normal (around 2 kPa over baseline), your DPF’s filling up with soot—get it looked at before your truck goes into limp mode.
Hit the highway for proper regen.
Aim for at least a 60 km/h cruise for 20 minutes to burn off soot. Short city runs won’t cut it and will leave your filter clogged.
Fuel and oil matter.
Run ultra-low-sulfur diesel and low-ash, OEM-approved engine oil so you’re not packing your filter with extra soot or ash.
Check your sensors.
Make sure the temp and differential-pressure sensors before and after the DPF are clean and reading right—bad data can stop regenerations or hide problems.
Schedule ash cleanouts.
Every 100 000 km (or sooner if you’re pushing hard), pull the DPF for a proper ash clean or swap. Keep service logs so you know when it’s time for a fresh unit.
